The InterOpera project is intended to work towards a standardized implementation of the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) in practice and is currently in planning phase. The project is expected to be carried out by the Steinbeis Europa Zentrum, the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA and the Standardization Council Industrie 4.0 which is funded by the VDE DKE. The aim of the project is to make concrete contribution to the activities in the field of interoperability in cooperation with the Industry 4.0 platform.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
Development of 50 concrete, practicable and interoperable sub-models of the asset administration shell along the reference architecture model 4.0 (RAMI4.0) for as many business processes as possible in the manufacturing and process industry
METHODOLOGY
In the starting phase of the InterOpera project, German industrial companies are will be called upon to name their AAS sub-model usecase applications. A methodological assistance in development and support in creation of the specific sub-models of the AAS is planned within the scope of the project.
IMPROVEMENTS THROUGH MORE INTEROPERABILITY AND AAS
1. Increase in productivity and efficiency in Industrie 4.0
2. Reduction of integration costs in value-added networks across different manufacturers
3. Establishing new business relationships and developing new market segments
4. AAS concepts that can communicate with one another through standardized format for the representation of industrial digital twins
PLACE IN THE ‚LEITBILD 2030‘ OF PI4.0
The "InterOpera" project is in the final approval phase for funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). It is intended to create replicable open-source solutions for the production using standardized sub-models. The idea for this came about on the initiative of and with the support of the Plattform Industrie 4.0 and its partners, and is directly related to the ‘Leitbild 2030’ of the industry.
