HANNOVER MESSE 2020,
20 - 24 April
The Mobility and Fuels strategy of the federal government (MFS) is the central platform for shaping the energy transition in the transport sector and thereby for achieving the energy and climate protection policy goals of the federal government.
As a federal programme management association, NOW implements BMVI funding programmes on hydrogen and fuel cell technology, on electric mobility with batteries as well as on charging infrastructure. NOW is also tasked with supporting the BMVI in the further development of the Mobility and Fuels Strategy and concrete funding measures for its implementation. This includes expert evaluation of pilot projects, the (further) development of funding measures to support AFID implementation and general consultancy to the BMVI.
In the past NOW has already supported the BMVI in implementing Directive 2014/94/EU (Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Directive - AFID) and in international cooperation issues in the area of alternative fuels and drives. In this context the National Strategic Framework was developed in 2016 as the German iteration of the AFID. It outlines the state of play, goals and action for the development of infrastructure for electricity, hydrogen and natural gas in transport. Support from the BMVI in further implementing the AFID as well as in the area of international cooperation is continuing.
