The transponder-coded safety switch CTP with guard locking has been expanded with a variant approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres according to the ATEX directive. In the version CTP-EX the safety switch can be used in zone 2 (gas environment) and zone 22 (dust environment) applications. To meet the high requirements for usage in potentially explosive atmospheres and the requirements of the ATEX directive, various design measures have been implemented on the CTP-EX. For example, an additional protective enclosure has been provided and measures taken to prevent the formation of sparks. Like all safety switches in the series CTP, the CTP-EX has a locking force of 2600 N. Up to 20 devices can be connected in series. In addition to compliance for use in Atex zone 2 and zone 22 environments, the CTP-EX meets the requirements of the standards EN ISO 13849-1 with cat. 4 / PL e as well as EN ISO 14119 for a type 4 switch with a high coding level.
