Anti-microbial protection

On the one hand, there is an increase in infections with multi-resistant pathogens during hospitalisation; on the other hand, bacteria (e.g.Escherichia coli) are able to spread in an unimpeded manner without additional measures. Between 5 and 19 per cent of all patients become infected with germs during a stay in a medical institution. There are several reasons, from misapplied and excessive usage of antibiotics within the field of human and veterinarian medicine to a decline in developing new agents against methicillin- resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

It is indispensable to consider more intelligent schemes regarding antibiotics and hygienic measures. Studies show that certain barriers can be a significant aid to avoid transmission or proliferation of pathogens. Such a barrier can be created in three ways:

1. Surfaces with features reducing adhesion in order to minimise the adherence of bacteria

2. Bactericidal surfaces to kill germs

3. Easy-to-clean surfaces which facilitate the cleansing of contaminated areas

Our SANPURE® coating system combines all three properties and provides touch-intensive substrates in hygienically sensitive areas with an effective protection. The finishing can be applied onto almost every surface made of glass, metal and plastics.

There will be no change to the optical and haptic features of the objects, and the coating also increases the resistance against mechanical and chemical damage. Several colouring can be implemented on request.
