Foreign direct investment (FDI) plays a major role in the United States economy, both as a key driver of the economy and an important source of innovation, exports and jobs. The United States has always provided foreign investors a stable and welcoming market. As a place to do business, the United States offers a predictable and transparent legal system, low taxes, outstanding infrastructure, and access to the world's most lucrative consumer market.
The U.S. Department of Commerce and its partner Economic Development Organizations aim to attract companies from all over the world. The organizations help companies settle in, expand or outsource in the United States and assist them with regulatory and administrative requirements in setting up a business and finding, preparing or obtaining the needed workforce, real estate or office facilities, and service partners, start to finish. During an initial meeting these EDO's provide future investors with information on business opportunities and location advantages.
The U.S. Department of Commerce provides you the following services at the Hannover Fair 2011:
- contact to our economic development partners - they will provide specific information about opportunities in their regions.

- face-to-face meetings at the show with people and institutions you need to know, in our Pavilion or at your booth
- invitations to events and receptions where you can build your network of useful contacts in the U.S.
