Product description

Complete system for condition monitoring of rotor blades and for the detection of structural damage or icing

Rotor blades of wind turbines are exposed to extreme environmental conditions. They determine the energy yield and thus the economic efficiency of a wind turbine. Damage must be detected as early as possible so that cost-effective repair measures can be planned and initiated as early as possible. In the event of rotor blade freezing, the system must be stopped in order to avoid increased loads due to unbalance or to protect the environment from ice falling off. Periodically recurring tests are not sufficient for the early detection of damage or ice build-up. Permanent monitoring guarantees greater safety.

The solution from Wölfel: SHM.Blade® and IDD.Blade® for the detection of structural damage or icing

Early detection of damage
Automatic ice detection
Automatic restart of the wind turbine when it is free of ice
Reduced risk of ice release

Your benefit: Greater efficiency

The use of SHM.Blade® or IDD.Blade® increases the efficiency of your wind turbine. Early detection of damage or icing prevents serious damage and reduces repair costs. At the same time, you reduce the downtimes of your plant and thus increase your energy yield. The automatic restart of the system when the ice is clear also saves you a personnel-intensive ice release inspection and reduces the ice-related downtime to a minimum.
In the field of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), Wölfel relies on measured physical quantities in order to be able to deduce structural changes from these data. Decisive here is a fully automated signal analysis online in the wind farm. Damage must be reliably detected and distinguished from normal environmental and operational influences.
