Product description

Aalen University is one of the leading research universities of applied sciences in Baden-Württemberg (south-west Germany) and beyond. Key research priorities are "Advanced Materials and Manufacturing" and "Photonics". From 2017 onwards, the cooperation network SmartPro of Aalen university is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research with 5 million Euro. The central goal of the funding programm is to generate strong, lasting impetus for the regi-on. More than 40 partners from industry and academia participate in the network SmartPro in or-der to push application-oriented research on smart materials and intelligent production technolo-gies which are to be incorporated into future-oriented products. Key areas of application are ener-gy converting machines and energy storage, lightweight construction as well as additive manufac-turing for industry 4.0. In addition to cost-effectiveness, the focus is on energy, material and re-source efficiency.

The exhibition stand will show first results of the SmartPro R&D projects. For applications in electromobility, novel magnetic and battery materials will be presented, complemented by vari-ous analytical processes such as innovative imaging methods for quality assurance. The exhibits also include motors for e-mobility, magnetic as well as impeller drives. In addition, you will find mul-tifunctional materials including hybrid lightweight materials such as pressure-cast CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer) at the exhibition booth. Another focus of the SmartPro exhibition is on Additive Manufacturing, particularly on functional integration. In the area of metal 3D printing, for example, gears with integrated cooling channels, optimized hard metal powders as starting material as well as tools treated with special laser processes will be on display. In the field of 3D printing u-sing optical materials, prototypical 3D volume displays and 3D measuring sensors will be presented.
