Joining is a central production challenge and also a significant cost factor. In many cases current joining technology developments offer significant improvements and impulses. Therefore the Fraunhofer IWS in cooperation with the TU Dresden and other partners established the joining technology center "Tailored Joining". The center is designed to provide an overview to users of joining technology, to show the different processes, their advantages and limitations. New developments will be presented and industrial solutions will be shown.
(Dresden, March 18, 2019) Scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS in Dresden have developed a joining gun that creates a connection between metal and thermoplastic materials within seconds. This gun is of a modular de-sign and can easily be integrated into the production process, for example by mounting on a robot arm in place of a spot welding gun. The advantages of the joining gun will be presented at the Hannover¬messe 2019, Fraunhofer joint booth (hall 6, booth A30).
(Dresden, March 18, 2019) Together with the company Erich Utsch AG scientists of the Fraunhofer-Institut für Werkstoff- und Strahltechnik IWS Dresden have developed a process for the protection of license plates for motor vehicles. The development is triggered by the fact that many of the established product protection concepts are either too inflexible or uneconomical. The results will be presented at the Hannovermesse 2019, Fraunhofer joint booth (hall 6, booth A30).
