For more than 40 years now, Südkabel has lived up to its pioneering role in cable technology by successfully using the insulation material XLPE. Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is the raw material used for producing this insulation. The good thermal properties of cross-linked polyethylene permit a continuous conductor temperature of 90°C. In the event of a short-circuit, it can cope with a brief rise in conductor temperature to as much as 250°C.XLPE, with its good dimensional stability, is significantly superior to thermoplastic PE.In conjunction with an intelligent cable construction, our cables enjoy optimum protection: our high and extra-high voltage cables are impervious to external mechanical stresses and moisture.
For our cables with insulation made of cross-linked polyethylene, all commonly used cable accessories are available:Outdoor terminations, transformer and SF6 GIS ...
The standard range of medium voltage cable accessories for XLPE-insulated MV cables consists of:
- Multi-range terminations made of silicone rubber for indoor and ...
With approximately 30 per cent of cable lengths installed, medium voltage cables are, after their low voltage counterparts, the most frequently installed category ...
As a front-ranking manufacturer of high and extra-high voltage cable systems, rated at up to 550 kV, Südkabel can draw upon long decades of experience in handling ...
