Dr.-Ing. Christian Henke studied electrical engineering with a focus on automation technology at the University of Paderborn and received his doctorate in the field of innovative drive technologies for rail vehicles at the University of Paderborn.
Since 2011, Dr. Henke has headed the Scientific Automation Department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Design Technology Mechatronics IEM. His research focuses on model-based development methods and simulation techniques for control design as well as X-in-the-Loop technologies. Dr. Henke built up the fields of automation and robotics at the Fraunhofer Institute and develops with his team special solutions for complex, networked systems in the context of industry 4.0. A systems engineering approach, in which the interaction of sensors, actuators, intelligent control technology and smart structures is considered holistically, results in optimal system behavior.
Dr. Henke is also a lecturer for automation technology and robotics at the University of Paderborn.
