Dr. Thomas Gamer studied computer science at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) and received a PhD in computer science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 2011. He was awarded for an excellent dissertation in computer science by FZI (Research Center for Information Technology) Friend’s Association. Thomas Gamer joined the ABB Corporate Research Center Germany in 2010 and is currently research team manager for the team “Networks and Devices”. The team’s research focus is on future solutions for orchestration of industrial networks as well as device integration and information provisioning and modeling for industrial systems. His research interests are industrial autonomous systems, integrated solutions for building automation systems as well as Industry 4.0 and security. Thomas Gamer has been a member of Plattform Industrie 4.0 working group 3 “Security of Networked Systems” until mid of 2018 and is still active in ZVEI working group “Security” as well as in the task force on artificial intelligence of working group 2 of Plattform Industrie 4.0.
