Prof. Meurer has been Head of the Chair of Automatic Control at the Technical Faculty of the CAU Kiel since 11/2012. After studying at Stuttgart University (Dipl.-Ing., 2001) and Georgia Tech, Atlanta, USA (M.Sc., 2000), he completed his doctorate at Stuttgart University in 2005. From 2005 to 2007 he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Saarland University. In 2007 he became Senior Researcher at the TU Vienna, where he habilitated in 2012. His research interests include control methods for complex dynamic systems and their technical application. He is IEEE Senior Member and Associate Editor for several journals. He chairs the Technical Committee 1.40 of the VDI/GMA. Prof. Meurer was awarded the VDI/GMA Eugen Hartmann Prize in 2009 and the Cardinal Innitzer Award in 2012. In 2017 he received the IFAC Congress Best Interactive Paper Prize with two co-authors.
