Nigel Holmes : Chief Executive of the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA)
Nigel Holmes is Chief Executive of the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA), recognised as one of the most proactive hydrogen & fuel cell industry associations in Europe. SHFCA has over 80 members mostly in Scotland and UK but an increasing number of members from overseas with many involved in Scottish activities.
Scotland is a dynamic location for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell deployments into developing low carbon energy systems, including the expanding hydrogen bus fleet in Aberdeen, hydrogen vehicles in Fife, and many innovative projects in the Western Isles and the Orkney Islands. The Orkney Islands are widely seen as exemplar clean energy islands, with projects including the FCH-JU supported BIG HIT and HySeas III development of the world’s first ocean-going roll-on-roll-off hydrogen ferry, as well as the Surf ‘n’ Turf, HyDime, and ITEG projects.
Nigel Holmes also represents SHFCA member interests on the Renewable Industry Advisory Group, is a steering group member for the Scottish Transport Emissions Partnership, and has recently been involved in the review of the Scottish Transport Strategy for Transport Scotland.
