HANNOVER MESSE 2019,
How force sensing can revolutionize rotating equipment
With the emergence of Industry 4.0 and fully integrated value chains, the impact of unreliable equipment will be even greater. Looking for early indicators of failure will therefore not be enough anymore. Users of equipment need to know how to best operate their machines for reliable and efficient production.
SKF is teaming up with Proximion, specialists in fiber optical sensing and part of the Hexatronic Group of companies, to allow users of bearings to monitor loads, speeds, temperatures and machine condition in real time.
The technology can provide an instant overview of the performance and health of the equipment. This opens up new opportunities for precise, real-time and closed-loop control of processes. It also allows engineers to be proactive and prevent, rather than merely detect, potential problems early such as unfavourable running conditions or wear and damage, before they lead to costly shutdowns and lost production.
