HANNOVER MESSE 2019,
Japanese government has launched the concept of Connected Industries. The Connected Industries initiative aims to create new added value not only by increasing efficiency and optimizing the manufacturing process, but also by connecting the strengths of Japan’s manufacturing industry with each other. These strengths have been cultivated on the factory floor, including at SMEs, and include accurate data, technological capabilities, problem-solving know-how, and technical skills developed by seasoned workers. Among five priority fields tackled under the Connected Industry, Robot Revolution Initiative is assigned as the promoter of manufacturing and robotics. In this presentation, we explain concept of the Connected Industries, and recent results of RRI activities in manufacturing and robotics field such as Japan-Germany joint use case development for standardization, IoT tool and recipe database for SME's, analysis of current use cases and the future vision of smart manufacturing.
