Manufacturing companies face a paradox: The energy transition brings volatile electricity prices, rising grid fees, and growing regulatory complexity. At the same time, however, it also holds enormous economic opportunities for anyone who intelligently manages their energy consumption. Yet while most energy management systems cover only a single use case—such as peak load shaving or self-consumption of PV—the actual savings potential in the interaction of these levers remains untapped.

The Munich-based company cleverwatt was founded with the goal of making the economic opportunities of the energy transition accessible to medium-sized industrial companies. Through a holistic, data-driven approach, analysis, control, procurement, and consulting are combined into a single integrated system. Every project begins with a data-driven potential analysis: Based on load profile data and existing plant technology, the clever.Report identifies concrete savings potential and provides actionable recommendations ready for decision-making. The portfolio is complemented by optimized electricity procurement, in which cleverwatt conducts structured tenders with qualified industrial energy suppliers and compiles individual procurement strategies from futures market products, PPAs, and spot market shares. An integrated engineering office also supports tailored energy concepts such as heat recovery or the electrification of industrial processes—including applications for subsidies from BAFA and KfW.

With the AI-based energy management system clever.EMS, cleverwatt controls and optimizes its customers’ entire energy infrastructure in real time—from battery storage and charging infrastructure to refrigeration and compressed air systems, as well as thermal processes and CHP units. The key difference from conventional systems: clever.EMS follows a multi-use approach. Peak load capping, spot market arbitrage, PV self-consumption optimization, and grid fee reduction under Section 19 of the StromNEV run in parallel without conflicting objectives. They are controlled by a self-learning logic that continuously adapts to load patterns, market prices, and production processes. Integration is manufacturer-independent via standard industry protocols and APIs.

At HANNOVER MESSE 2026, cleverwatt will offer extensive networking opportunities to present its products and services to interested parties in person or to discuss specific, customized optimization potential for companies.
