Winner of the ROBOTICS AWARD 2026 Supplies the U.S. Military
For the first time, an autonomous kitchen robot from goodBytz, winner of the ROBOTICS AWARD 2026, is being deployed in the U.S. By the end of the summer, the Hamburg-based food-tech company will begin supplying a Texas military base. There, the system will prepare fresh meals around the clock for the soldiers stationed at the base.

For the Hamburg-based startup goodBytz, the contract to supply its fully autonomous kitchen robot marks another milestone on the path to international expansion. It demonstrates that autonomous kitchen systems can now be deployed in settings where thousands of people must be reliably provided with freshly prepared meals every day. This first installation marks the start of a larger rollout: As part of the contract, 20 additional autonomous kitchen robots have already been firmly ordered for future deployment at other military sites. Furthermore, the agreement includes a three-digit number of pre-ordered options for additional systems.
“By installing our system in the U.S., we’re demonstrating that autonomous kitchens are ready for use in highly complex catering environments. Anyone who needs to reliably provide fresh meals to tens of thousands of people every day requires solutions that operate around the clock. The fact that our technology is now being used at one of the largest military bases in the U.S. is a strong signal of how robotics will transform food service,” says Dr. Hendrik Susemihl, CEO and co-founder of goodBytz.
The deployment in Texas follows seamlessly on the heels of goodBytz’s first U.S. Army project in South Korea and marks the next step in global scaling within this segment. There, the company has been successfully operating an autonomous kitchen system since November 2025 and an autonomous kitchen container since spring 2026. With its first installation on American soil, goodBytz is now continuing this collaboration and bringing its technology directly to the United States for the first time.
The installation at Fort Hood is intended to exemplify goodBytz’s vision of making fresh food available wherever people live and work. Regardless of the time of day or staff availability, autonomous kitchen systems are designed to provide access to freshly prepared meals around the clock. Whether at military bases, hospitals, universities, or companies, goodBytz views food as infrastructure and aims to help shape the future of food supply on an international scale.
