Automators go for this
The Smart Factory includes production environments that organise themselves and are based on intelligent units. Thanks to modular safety solutions from the Pilz Group, it is possible to optimally reconcile safety and productivity for every application - including in the area of automated guided vehicles (AGVs).12 Dec 2022
The Pilz Group, a family-run company with headquarters in Ostfildern, Germany, supports industrial automation worldwide with its products, systems and services. A total of 42 subsidiaries and branches with currently more than 2,500 employees focus in particular on the safety aspect of man, machine and environment. The Swabian technology leader implements complete automation solutions comprising sensor, control and drive technology for the smart factory - including systems for industrial communication, diagnostics and visualization. The portfolio is rounded off by an international range of services including consulting, engineering and training. In addition to pure mechanical and plant engineering, Pilz solutions can be found in numerous other industries, such as wind energy, railroad technology or robotics.
Production environments that organise themselves and are based on intelligent units are an essential part of Industry 4.0. In the field of automated guided vehicles (AGVs), for example, modular safety solutions from Pilz ensure that safety and productivity merge into a symbiotic whole.
It can cope on its own
The central component of this modular concept is the PSENscan laser scanner. It detects objects on the track even at high speeds and, in conjunction with intelligent control technology, can prevent collisions. The PNOZ safety relay, for example, safely switches the AGV off and on again in the event of danger. But this is only one possible basic configuration. If more complex safety functions are also to be covered, the PSENscan can also be connected to the myPNOZ modular safety relay, which consists of a head module with up to eight freely combinable extension modules. With the help of the myPNOZ Creator online tool, users can then easily put together an individual safety solution tailored to their needs from a wide range of variation options. This can be supplemented as required when functions are expanded in the future, thus offering a high degree of flexibility in the design of mobile applications.
From simple to highly complex
Pilz looks at each application individually and holistically in advance, in order to safeguard any AGV with normative knowledge, modular product solutions and appropriate services - from track-bound to freely navigating, from simple to highly complex.
