The solution by the consortium consisting of tire manufacturer Michelin , LPWAN provider (low-power wide-area network) Sigfox and Argon Consulting is an all-inclusive tracking service . It includes the IoT tracker, tracker logistics and access to the analysis platform. To enable user companies to leverage the features worldwide and track transports globally from the first distribution center to the point of delivery in real time, the tracker automatically adjusts to all radio standards prescribed by the respective regulatory authorities. Payments are made per shipment; additional functions such as temperature monitoring, integrity control, etc. are in the works.

"The solution does not depend on the shipping company and does not require special containers," explains Pascal Zammit, Michelin's Senior Vice President of the Global Supply Chain, whose company has been using the solution for several months in global shipping and procurement logistics to monitor its intercontinental flow of goods. He estimates that the application's real-time tracking will save up to 10% of goods by sea, increase the accuracy of estimated time of arrival by up to 40%, and reduce interruptions in the flow of goods caused by bad weather and other exceptional events by up to 75%.
