ABB gets on board with Chinese charging stations
ABB, the Swiss technology company, has acquired 67% of the Shanghai firm, Chargedot New Energy Technology Co, a specialist in e-mobility. ABB also has the possibility of further increasing its stake in the company over the next three years.

ABB’s portfolio includes network distribution and charging stations for cars and trucks, as well as solutions for the electrification of ships, railways, busses, trams and cableways. The Swiss company has been working with the Chinese conglomerate BYD and Daimler in China since 2016, and has been providing the c-wall chargers for Denza models as well as fast-charging DC solutions for manufacturers like NIO and operators like BP/ifuel 66.
ABB wants to strengthen its relationships with leading Chinese electric car manufacturers and expand its hardware and software especially for the local requirements with its majority takeover of Chargedot . Additionally, ABB Robotics is a leading provider of robot units and software for Chinese electronic car manufacturers’ assembly lines. Chargedot, established in 2009 in Shanghai, provides manufacturers of electric cars, charging network operators and real estate developers with AC and DC chargers and suitable software platforms.
