The latest addition to the HOYER fleet consists of two Stralis 440S40 NP trucks from IVECO. Both vehicles are powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). HOYER will use these two new vehicles to deliver industrial gases from the Hürth site throughout the entire federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia on behalf of its partner Nippon Gases Deutschland . Thomas Hüttemann, Managing Director of the HOYER Group, says that as experts in transporting liquefied gases, it is logical for the company to also use this alternative fuel to power its vehicles. The aim is to reduce the CO2 emissions of the company’s own fleet by 25% per ton/km by 2020. The logistics specialist already has seven CNG-fueled vehicles operating in parallel in Germany.
Despite higher procurement costs, the environmental and performance figures – 15% less CO2 emissions, around 60% lower nitrogen emissions, and around 15% lower fuel consumption compared to the diesel counterpart – prompted HOYER to make the additional investment. Further plus points include the low-noise engine and better driving comfort.
