Robots can perform extremely diverse tasks in industrial production. The challenge is first teaching the robot each work step by software command. The KUKA.AppTech reduces such programming to a minimum. As in a library, the most common motion routines and sequences are stored in the KUKA.AppTech solution and can be quickly called up and integrated into customer-specific processes without the need for in-depth programming knowledge. This saves time. To prevent robots from, for example, getting in each other's way or colliding during their respective tasks, the software offers pre-defined routines as templates.

"Small and medium-sized companies in particular have great potential for automating their processes with the aid of robots," says Wolfgang Wanka, department manager for application programming at KUKA. "However, one obstacle is often the lack of programming know-how. With KUKA.AppTech, we are removing this obstacle." The collection of templates requires less programming experience and the robots can be adapted to new tasks more quickly and easily. At the same time, the software package provides access to more functions. "Certain application areas can thus be configured in advance and integrated into complex systems," says Wanka.
