Muscle activity generates extremely fine magnetic fields - detecting, interpreting and translating these in order to control devices and machines is the goal of Q.ANT's magnetic field sensor product line. This allows new types of human-machine interfaces to be conceived. One initial field of application is the native control of prostheses for disabled people, which improves their quality of life. Further applications are seen in the reliable, intuitive control of exoskeletons, robots and avatars.
With a sensitivity of up to 100 picotesla, there are potential industrial applications in component and material analysis, such as battery and control cabinet testing, the analysis of printed circuit boards or the detection of defects in material structures. There are also potential applications in navigation for vehicles on land, water and in the air, in geophysics, materials science and nanotechnology.
