A network to promote intelligent transport systems
For many intelligent transport system and mobility-related services, networking is essential. A new Internet platform now aims to promote cooperation and exchange between all interest groups involved, to develop new business models.

At the center of the newbits.eu platform are intelligent transport systems (ITS), which are often difficult to launch onto the market systematically. The Website therefore plans to bring together different groups with shared aims and interests. As the Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum reports, the project partners defined in advance four different topics and applications: efficient traffic management systems, efficiency-boosting solutions for water-based goods transport, sustainable mobility between towns, and safety and customer satisfaction in rail traffic. The interest groups include ITS service providers, transport companies, and infrastructure operators.
The two ‘new drives’ and ‘networked traffic’ mega trends are in particular accelerating the implementation of ITS across all modes of transport, says ITS Deutschland , the German society for intelligent transport systems. For 2020, it predicts ITS-related sales to amount to €4.7 billion in Germany alone. ITS Deutschland states that it aims to bundle cross-regional interests in the mobility sector and to represent these interests internationally.
