Partner Country Brazil
Brazil is Partner Country at HANNOVER MESSE 2026, positioning itself as a driving force for sustainable industrial transformation. As the largest economy in Latin America, Brazil offers exhibitors and visitors immense opportunities. With 216 million inhabitants, abundant natural resources, and a growing industrial sector, it ranks among the world’s leading economies.
Why Brazil?
Industrial and Energy Landscape combines growth and sustainability
Brazil is back on the global stage — stronger, greener, and more innovative than ever. As the official partner country of HANNOVER MESSE 2026, Brazil seizes the spotlight to showcase a bold new chapter: one where sustainability, industrial strength, and innovation walk hand in hand. A recognized leader in clean energy and a powerhouse of natural and industrial resources, Brazil is not just participating in global conversations — it’s shaping them. With its strategic partnership with Germany and a forward-looking vision anchored in energy transition, green industry, and cutting-edge technology, the country is reaffirming its status as a vital force in the global economy and a key player in building a sustainable future.
Brazil is reclaiming its key role as a global leader in recent years by revamping its participation in discussions on the planet’s future. As a partner country of the 2026 edition of Hannover Messe, it reaffirms its position as one of the main players in the international arena. A reference on sustainable development, the country continues to expand its partnership with Germany, emphasizing cooperation on energy transition, decarbonization, and green industry.
The Brazilian economy ranks among the world’s most dynamic, driven by innovation and sustainability on energy and agriculture. Recent data from 2024 and projections for 2025 highlight the country’s resilience and strategic importance.
Brazilian territory is after all the world's fifth largest, and its population of 212.6 billion people the seventh. All in all, its GDP, whose growth in 2024 stood at 3.4%, is the largest in Latin America and the Southern Hemisphere.
Beyond its renowned agricultural prowess, Brazil's economy is characterized by a diverse and competitive industrial sector. The country is home to Latin America's largest industrial and innovation hubs in the aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, mining, capital goods, medical equipment, chemical, and technology sectors. Recent data highlights the dynamic evolution and significant contributions of these sectors to Brazil's economic landscape.
In 2024, Brazil achieved a record US$181.9 billion in exports from its manufacturing industry, marking the highest value since the historical series began in 1997. The real revenue of the Brazilian manufacturing industry also saw a notable increase of 5.6% in 2024 compared to 2023, representing the largest annual growth since 2010. Overall industrial production ended 2024 with a 3.1% growth from 2023, driven by factors such as rising employment and income.
New Industry Brazil: Innovation and sustainability towards productiveness
In a significant move to reshape its economic future, the Brazilian government launched the New Industry Brazil (NIB) industrial policy in January 2024. This ambitious initiative aims to reindustrialize the country by addressing historical challenges and enhancing productivity through innovation and sustainability.
NIB represents a long-term vision extending until 2033, with an initial action plan focused on the 2024-2026 period. A substantial financial commitment of over BRL 300 billion (approximately EUR 56.28 billion) has been allocated until 2026 to stimulate technological development and improve Brazil's competitiveness in the global market.
A core focus of NIB is its commitment to green industrial development and decarbonization. Specific targets for Mission 5 (Bioeconomy, decarbonization, energy transition, and security) include reducing greenhouse gas emissions intensity per product in line with the Climate Plan and increasing the share of biofuels and electric vehicles in transportation to 27% by 2026 and 50% by 2033, as well as achieving a 10% reduction in carbon emissions from national industry by 2026 and 30% by 2033, while enhancing biodiversity usage.
A global green powerhouse
Brazil's advanced position in renewable energy makes it a key player in the global environmental agenda. It demonstrates remarkable leadership in renewable energy, with over 80% of its electricity generated from renewable sources in 2024, and the broader energy mix reaching 50% renewable.
It ranks 6th among Emerging Markets and 1st in Latin America for its power score. Brazil's leadership spans various renewable sources, including hydroelectric, solar, wind, and plant-based sources like sugarcane biomass and ethanol.
Looking ahead, Brazil aims to substantially increase its electricity generation from wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) sources, with projections estimating a rise to 150 GW by 2040, which would account for a remarkable 44% of Brazil's energy matrix. Wind power is expected to reach 44 GW by 2028, accounting for 13.2% of the Brazilian electricity matrix, while solar generation is projected to double.
The Brazilian government actively encourages Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the renewable energy sector. Projections indicate an expected influx of US$150 billion in investment in renewables by 2050. In addition, the share of renewable energies in the Brazilian energy matrix is estimated to increase to 48% in 2031, with an overall renewability level of 84% for electricity supply over the ten-year timeframe.
This demonstrates a systemic energy transition rather than just a power sector transformation, positioning Brazil as a more advanced model for holistic clean energy adoption compared to many nations.
All these efforts clearly reflect Brazil's objective and ambition in the global economy: to demonstrate that economic growth and ecological sustainability can indeed move together. Brazil's role as an official partner country of HANNOVER MESSE 2026 will be the ideal opportunity to demonstrate this concept to the world.
