Ahead of the times
WIKA, the specialist for intelligent sensor solutions, presented its first report on environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) at HANNOVER MESSE 2024 in April - two years before the legal obligation came into force. This reaffirms the company's commitment to sustainability and transparent reporting.

The headquarters and main plant of the internationally active WIKA Group has been located in Klingenberg am Main in Lower Franconia since it was founded in 1946. While the approximately 2,000 employees at the family-run company's main plant are primarily involved in the manufacture of pressure measurement technology, a further 150 employees at the production plant in the Röllfeld district are responsible for temperature measurement technology. With pioneering instrumentation solutions, WIKA covers a wide range of applications, from load cells to hydrogen filling stations.
Clear commitment to responsibility
One of the main topics of recent times has increasingly been ecological sustainability, documented in the company's first sustainability report. It is intended to show what has already been achieved and what is still to come. "The publication of our first ESG report is a clear commitment to responsibility towards the environment and society. Our aim is not only to achieve progress, but also to make it visible and comprehensible. It shows individual projects from all over the world and illustrates our sustainability efforts," explained Alexander Wiegand, CEO of the WIKA Group.
Focus on the three core areas of sustainability
The ESG report documents the company's goals and activities to date in the three core areas of sustainability: ecology, economy and social issues. The focus is particularly on climate protection measures, workplace attractiveness, the development and retention of employees and the company's ability to innovate. WIKA has based its sustainability report on the internationally recognized Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard.
Getting customers and users on board
The company has already taken extensive measures to increase the efficiency of its processes and integrate more renewable energies. However, according to those responsible at WIKA, the aim here is not just to minimize the company's own environmental impact, but also to support customers and users on their path to greater sustainability.
