When it comes to securing networks and other sensitive systems, today most people first think of internal threats from hackers and professional industry spies. But hardware is also susceptible to attack. FATH has developed TANlock, an innovative, burglar-proof locking system for protecting sensitive systems such as server parks, and is presenting it for the first time at HANNOVER MESSE 2014.

Every installed TANlock becomes part of a network (TCP IP) that also covers the power supply to the lock. The system is activated using a hand-held programming device that transfers all data to the lock within two seconds via a simple plug connection. This enables a complete network of locks to be initialized in a very short time without any special expertise. A controller in the TANlock communicates with the central admin computer to report the lock’s status in regular, programmable intervals. From there it can be monitored and activated if needed, or a time lapse for activation can be individually programmed.
