With their Schuler Mono Control system, Schuler AG’s forming technology specialists offer a complete control system update for aging punching presses from Müller Weingarten. Many of the affected presses have been doing a flawless job mechanically for up to 20 years and are already equipped with modern features such as an electronic roller feed. The control PCs and the associated software are nevertheless outdated. As Müller Weingarten’s successor company, Schuler is now making these production facilities fit for use in Industry 4.0 environments. From now on, remote diagnostics and remote maintenance will be available for all upgraded machines. This includes predictive maintenance based on sensor data, which should minimize unwanted downtime.
According to a study by the German Engineering Association ( VDMA ) and Roland Berger , the predictive maintenance approach is already an important trend in German machine manufacturing, and 81% of the surveyed entrepreneurs are grappling with it. However, to date, only 40% of the relevant companies offer full predictive maintenance solutions.
