And yet they move!
The new MC 3602 B and MC 3606 B Motion Controllers from the Swabian drive specialist FAULHABER are suitable for four different motor technologies.

FAULHABER, the drive specialist based in Schönaich in Germany's Swabian region, is presenting the MC 3602 B and MC 3606 B – new motion controllers that offer even more options when selecting and commissioning drive systems. The compact MC 3602/06 B can be used to operate DC motors, brushless DC motors and linear motors with the usual position encoders as a servo drive according to CiA 402. Another new feature is the support of stepper motors with an encoder as a servo or without an encoder in open-loop operation. The products can communicate via EtherCAT, CANopen, RS232 and USB.
The new MC 3602 B variant, with up to two amps continuous output current for smaller motors, and the MC 3606 B variant, with up to six amps continuous output current for medium-sized motors, make work easier for engineers. For applications in which more than one motor technology is used, only one motor controller and one GUI (Graphical User Interface) are required. The free FAULHABER “Motion Manager 7” software is available for installation and commissioning. This means that the drive is up and running in just a few steps. All essential CiA 402 Servodrive operating modes are offered. Integration is via CANopen or RS232, while the USB interface is mainly used for commissioning. An additional optional EtherCAT module allows cycle times of less than one millisecond. In addition, the motion controllers can also be operated stand-alone without a central controller.
In combination with FAULHABER motors, the MC 3602 B and MC 3606 B provide a sophisticated drive system with extensive protective functions. The products were designed for operating motors with ironless windings and are intended to offer high dynamics here. However, standard motors – for example NEMA stepper motors – can also be operated with the MC 3602/06 B without any problems. This makes them a solid basis for a wide range of applications. Whether the application involves a stepper motor in open-loop or closed-loop operation, or a combination with brushless, linear or DC motors, the MC 3602/06 B is said by FAULHABER to provide a solution for almost any requirement – in industrial or laboratory automation, robotics, semiconductor processing or for use in measuring systems.
