60% of all companies surveyed agree that batch size 1 is an important factor in their company’s economic success. However, the German Industry 4.0 Index , collected by consulting firm Staufen AG, shows clear differences between industries. While fewer than one in ten machine and plant engineering companies consider the topic as irrelevant for them, more than a third of German car manufacturers see it as having no relevance for their company.

The consultants surveyed a total of 394 companies in Germany for the German Industry 4.0 Index 2017. More than 70% of the participants come from the machine and plant engineering, automotive and electrical industries. The 2nd Batch Size 1 and Mass Customization conference , which will take place in Harsewinkel from February 28 to March 1 2018, will also focus on the topic.
