Bosch and Continental have simultaneously announced their acquisition of a 5% stake each in map provider Here . The two major automotive suppliers are taking over the shares from the current three shareholders Audi, BWM, and Daimler. The parties have agreed not to disclose any financial details; the acquisition is still subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.

The new shareholders also envisage areas for cooperation outside the automotive sector. Bosch states intralogistics as one such potential area of application: According to its announcement, “High-definition indoor navigation maps could be used to automate and streamline flows of goods all the way to the production line.” Continental says that the aim of the collaboration is “to pave the way for technologies that facilitate the reliable availability of highly accurate data for the efficient transportation of people and their goods.”
