As a self-learning robotic system, Smart Item Picking from Bosch Rexroth automates manual, labor-intensive picking tasks in intralogistics. The system follows a completely model-free approach, thus it can even recognize previously unknown objects and pick them reliably. By communication with the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and the latest AI methods, the system's object recognition is refined for each specific application and the gripping strategy is optimized for each individual pick. The modular system, based on flexible & scalable hardware and software building blocks, enables picking of a wide portfolio of various objects, such as fast moving consumer goods, pharma and drugstore items. Thanks to the modular approach, the system can be tailored to customer needs. It enables safe box emptying as well as volume-optimized placing during order picking. The robust system enables a success rate of 99 percent and a throughput of more than 600 items per hour.
