The answer to the question in a nutshell: many. The authors of the publication see real potential for “considerable efficiency gains” and new use cases in cloud computing, for example. It would be possible to create platforms on which actors could exchange data and information or interact with each other. Shared access to planning data or status tracking of purchase orders and deliveries are examples. Such platforms are apparently predestined for supply chain management and logistics.

The authors see the advantages of blockchain technology in the intermediary, directory and lawyer functions. The German newspaper “Handelsblatt” also describes logistics as a suitable field of application for the blockchain. When goods are shipped, all stakeholders - and they are numerous - would have to keep up to date. Everyone should have the same level of information and identical data should be available everywhere. This is exactly what the blockchain can guarantee.
