Hubert is the name of the small, four-wheeled vehicle which is designed to ease the burden on employees in logistics and shorten the distances they have to cover. Hubert is distinctive in that it has a 3D sensor that detects people and, in its autonomous driving mode, it allows collaboration in environments in which personnel are present. The prototype was developed in the three-year “Follow Me” research project by TU Chemnitz together with the sensor manufacturer Sick AG from Waldkirch in Baden-Württemberg and the software companies iFD GmbH from Chemnitz and Livingsolids GmbH from Magdeburg.

For practical testing in an industrial environment, the distributor Komsa – winner of the German Logistics Prize 2018 and the European Logistics Prize 2019 – is making its logistics centers in Hartmannsdorf near Chemnitz available. If everything runs smoothly, Komsa could place an order for series production and use Hubert worldwide to optimize logistics processes.
