SEW-EURODRIVE, the internationally operating family-owned company from Bruchsal, is deliberately presenting itself in a futuristic way at HANNOVER MESSE 2025 and is taking visitors on a virtual journey to exciting “planets” in a digital “spaceship”. The planets are symbolic of the home of real plants and machines from different industries and applications. These are digitally networked with each other via the bridge of the spaceship (the control center), and are operated and monitored from there. In addition, there will be live broadcasts to Canada, this year's partner country of HANNOVER MESSE, enabling real-time digital interaction with several real machines at the SEW-EURODRIVE branch there.

Futuristic industrial show

The application exhibits at the stand in Hannover and the machines at SEW-EURODRIVE in Canada continuously supply information to the spaceship cockpit. Visualized by glowing rays, all these data streams converge and create digital images of the systems and machines. This gives visitors a vivid, real-time understanding of how a factory can be sustainably and efficiently automated using energy-efficient future technology and innovative digital concepts. With its futuristic industrial show, SEW-EURODRIVE provides the right concepts and solutions for the overarching motto of the HANNOVER MESSE: “Energizing a sustainable industry”.

Real world meets digital world

At SEW-EURODRIVE, visitors can experience the following systems, applications and machines in a futuristic fusion of the real and digital world: a gantry and shuttle solution, a mixer in mining with agitator drive and DriveRadar IoT Suite for industrial gear units, distribution logistics and stationary conveyor technology using the example of a battery cell factory, an oil filling station and a mobile system solution for clean rooms, material handling with a tripod and the use of artificial intelligence, a chocolate conche with planetary gear units and DriveRadar IoT Suite for industrial gear units, as well as a compressed air-free, 100 percent electrically automated flowpack packaging machine.

“Software-defined factory” concept study

All system and machine solutions shown are operated and monitored centrally in the shared control center. “Software-defined factory” is the result for which SEW-EURODRIVE, in cooperation with Garching-based Software Defined Automation GmbH, is currently developing a completely new, cross-manufacturer, open software. ‘DriveOperations’ is the working title of this forward-looking concept study, which SEW-EURODRIVE is presenting live and interactively with its partner company at HANNOVER MESSE 2025.

Experiencing research in a playful way

Whether it's playing soccer with drones in the careers area or using artificial intelligence to recognize people at the “Campus Marketplace,” visitors to SEW-EURODRIVE are invited to experience innovation and research in the field of automation technology in a hands-on way. A delivery robot with a special sensor setup demonstrates how AI can be used to reliably recognize not only objects but also people. Other research activities that the company is conducting at the Bruchsal campus are also vividly presented there. The fact that innovation only gains momentum with the appropriate collaborations is also made clear at the exhibition stand. That is why cooperation partners from Germany and Canada are also present this year.
