Conrad Connect and Unitymedia will leverage the partnership to jointly build a public IoT wireless network. The idea is to allow users to benefit from end-to-end IoT solutions based on the LoRaWAN network protocol and to link them together. LoRa WAN (long range wide area network) offers high energy efficiency, a range of more than 10 km and a data transfer rate of up to 50 KB/sec – which is sufficient for all types of smart city, smart business and smart living applications.
The Unitymedia network is being built with the support of local and regional utility companies, communal and city governments, and business partners. Unitymedia is providing the gateways that make up the LoRa network and operates the network, while Conrad Electronic is supplying the sensors that will be connected to Unitymedia's gateways. The IoT platform Conrad Connect will automatically be integrated into Unitymedia Business' offer.
