No future without a past: from its foundation as a special machine factory with three employees in 1949 to the diversified, market-leading group of companies in digitized mechatronic drive technology in 2024, WITTENSTEIN has constantly repositioned itself - and filled the guiding principle of the founding Wittenstein family "being one with the future" with life. The broad range of products and solutions that WITTENSTEIN SE will be presenting at HANNOVER MESSE 2024 is proof of this.

Focus on digitalization

The WITTENSTEIN Group sees its future in cybertronic solutions for a digitalized industry. With the aim of playing a key role in shaping the digital transformation in drive technology and mechanical engineering, the functionality of selected mechatronic products and systems - with integrated electronics, sensors and firmware - will be transferred to cybertronic products and systems that can also communicate and network with each other.

Gearboxes that are both intelligent and capable of communication

Specifically, gearboxes from WITTENSTEIN alpha GmbH will be on show in Hanover which, thanks to cynapse functionality, are both intelligent and capable of communication and thus lay the foundation for smart services, new digital business models and innovative future technologies - as demonstrated, for example, by the application in OCEANERGY AG's Kite Hydrogen Ships for the production of green hydrogen.

Safety-certified servo controller

One of WITTENSTEIN cyber motor GmbH's highlights is the new safety-certified cyber simco drive 2 servo controller with PROFIsafe interface, which is used in combination with a drive actuator in the compact cyber iTAS system 2 servo drive system for automated guided vehicles (AGVs). The PROFIsafe interface makes an important contribution to the "Next Level Safety Architecture" by reducing the complexity of safety and control technology and cutting the time and costs involved in commissioning and servicing AGVs. It is also designed to simplify the configuration and documentation of the safety architecture.

More drives and gearboxes that are "one with the future"

At WITTENSTEIN galaxie GmbH, the two application- and performance-optimized gearbox series Galaxie robustness line and Galaxie accuracy line will be presented - as well as digital twin concepts based on them, through which the life cycle of the products at the user's site can be networked with that in the direct manufacturing environment, thus generating higher digital added value.

Solution for off-shore natural gas extraction

WITTENSTEIN motion control GmbH is presenting a redundant AC servo drive specially designed for off-shore natural gas extraction. The special feature of the all-electric actuator is that it can be integrated into the condition monitoring and predictive maintenance of the conveying station from a sea depth of up to 3,000 meters - thus ensuring maximum functional reliability and availability.

Subsidiaries also contribute to the fireworks of innovations

WITTENSTEIN subsidiary attocube systems AG is showcasing the latest IDS3010, an ultra-compact 3-axis displacement sensor for high-precision applications in the nano range with an integrated web server that can be digitally integrated into the operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) of machines and production systems.

Industrial security is the focus of baramundi software GmbH, another WITTENSTEIN Group company, because IT and OT are increasingly converging. With its baramundi Management Suite, the subsidiary is showcasing a solution in Hanover for efficiently managing a wide range of devices in the typical IIoT network landscape in order to reliably secure production.

Focusing on the future market of haptic sensor technology, Resense GmbH - a joint venture between measurement technology manufacturer WIKA Alexander Wiegand SE & Co. KG and WITTENSTEIN SE - is presenting what the company claims are the world's smallest 6-axis force/torque sensors. Thanks to their unique design with hollow shaft and compact size, they give machines in medical technology, robotics and micromanipulation a sense of touch.
