The subsidiary of the Norwegian supply group presented a new digital twin at the ONS 2018 Offshore Northern Seas trade show in Stavanger, Norway. The company has simulated an unmanned drilling rig looking for oil and gas, enabling workers to investigate sites at sea from ashore. The twin supplies the operator with data material to evaluate operations, as well as for necessary maintenance work, arising expenses, current performance and more. It also enables a data-based 3D visualization of the system made available via a cloud.
Kongsberg’s digital twin is based on a feasibility study carried out in collaboration with Norwegian oil and gas group Equinor. It combines 3D visualization with physical models, company systems and process simulators. The operator can access past, current and predictive data to optimize the operation of the system throughout the entire life cycle.
