The UX Design Awards are presented by the International Design Center Berlin (IDZ) . The IDZ uses the awards to show how intuitive solutions and user-centric design can successfully contribute to shaping a future-oriented living environment.
The top prize this year – the UX Design Award Gold 2018 – goes to the bionic robotic system ‘Robotic Suite’ from Festo AG , based in Esslingen am Neckar, for its learning and control system, which enables employees “to intuitively operate robots at the workplace”. This helps “alleviate understandable fears of the automation of jobs, whereby the solution sets high standards for marrying human capabilities with the potentials offered by robotics and automation.”
Also commended with awards for their marketable products were Charlie AI for Charlie AI (artificial intelligence and dialog interaction), Philips for IntelliVue X3 (seamless protection of patient data in clinic transfers), Daimler for MBUX (control of cars by voice and machine learning), STAT-Dx for the QIAstat-Dx Analyzer (compact laboratory for rapid disease diagnoses), and Bosch Power Tools for UniversalDetect (sensor-based material detector for handymen).
