Festo builds a bionic workplace
The workbench of the future teaches itself how to make the cooperation between man and robots as effective as possible. Festo is presenting a solution at Hannover Fair that makes use of artificial intelligence.

The Bionic Workplace by Festo combines a bionic cobot with an AI system to ensure that the pneumatic lightweight robot can more effectively assist its human partners in the future. However, further interlinked assistance systems and peripheral devices enable mutual data exchange at the workstation of the future. AI-based machine learning technologies are to ensure that the entire workplace analyzes and optimizes itself continuously.
The cooperation with the robot is handled not only through direct interactions via speech, touch or gestures, but also through a remote operation function: the control center is a tablet containing the Robotic Suite from Festo, which was recently recognized in the German Design Awards with a Gold award . The automation specialist from Esslingen hopes that the new solution will ensure that cobot operation to turn out custom products even in small volumes and for mass production of batch size 1 will be generally more secure and more efficient.
Festo will have multiple representations at Hannover Fair 2018. Its main stand (D11) , where other bionic innovations will also be presented (including the BionicWheelBot , a brand-new robot based on the cyclist spider ), can be found in Hall 15.
