Five new watchdogs
Five new modules for the myPNOZ safety relay from PILZ now provide a significantly expanded range of functions.

The modular safety switching device myPNOZ from Swabian automation specialist PILZ now offers an extended range of functions: Five new modules are available in the online tool myPNOZ Creator – four additional input modules and one output module. In addition, all input modules and all input/output modules have a signal output to transmit the status of the input function, for example to a higher-level control system. According to PILZ, myPNOZ thus offers tailor-made safety for even more application scenarios.
New focus: Monitoring access points
The new application scenarios for myPNOZ include various access points such as doors or non-contact safety devices (BWS) on machines. The safety relay provides two new modules for this purpose: the input modules PNOZ yi7 lock and yi8. The yi7 now also monitors and controls the safe guard locking or guard locking with interlocking of standard door systems. It ensures that the machine stops reliably for the period during which the safety door is open. In combination with the PSENmlock and PSENslock safety interlocks from PILZ, this creates a complete safety door monitoring system including guard locking. The new yi8 module controls and monitors both safety sensors on separating protective devices – such as the PSENmag safety switch from PILZ – and single-channel sensors in the BWS area. These include safety light barriers such as the PSENopt from PILZ. With the versatile yi8, users can automate safety in their production more flexibly with just one input module.
Fewer modules, but more application scope
For those who want to efficiently implement larger applications with many safe inputs using just one safety relay, myPNOZ offers another new input module. The yi5 input module has four safe, 2-channel inputs, meaning users now need fewer modules for the same number of safety functions. This saves costs and space in the control cabinet, as applications with up to 30 safe 2-channel input functions per myPNOZ system will be possible in future.
Group OR for alternative safety
If safe input functions need to be used alternatively, the new input module PNOZ yi6 is the right choice. It enables the safety function “group OR” and thus applications in which several safe functions must be active alternatively to each other. This means that different safe application scenarios can be implemented using just one module. For example, in press applications where different input functions must be handled in alternative operating modes: In the “automatic mode” of the press, safety is ensured by a safety door and a light grid. Using the “OR press” safety function, users can also switch to manual operation via a two-hand control.
This gives users flexibility with outputs
Another new feature is the combination of time-delayed and direct-switching outputs, which is the focus of the new output module PNOZ yo5. It has four outputs, two of which can be combined with two direct-switching outputs to form time-delayed on or off outputs. This option saves on modules and space in the control cabinet. The new output module thus scores with more functionality at lower cost.
myPNOZ: the system
The modular safety relay myPNOZ offers a digital, integrated complete concept from selection to ordering: the intuitive online tool myPNOZ Creator allows users to put together a customized myPNOZ. It is delivered pre-assembled, configured, and tested as a ready-to-install and completely customized system. Existing and new modules are powered via the header module and connected via BUS connectors.
