Go (con-)figure!
Thanks to the Han Configurator, the new online tool from HARTING for designing connectors, users can now make custom modifications to the housings of series-manufactured industrial interfaces for the very first time.

The HARTING Technology Group is a leading global supplier of industrial connection technology for the three core areas of data, signal and power. The company also produces cash registers for retail businesses, electromagnetic actuators for automotive and industrial series production, chargers for electric vehicles, and hardware and software for customers and applications in sectors such as automation, mechanical and plant engineering, robotics and transportation engineering. When it comes to the company's portfolio of connection technology, the Han Configurator in particular - a special online tool on the HARTING website for designing connectors - has proven so popular recently that the company has decided to expand its range of functions yet again.
Users can now make their own custom modifications to the housings of series-manufactured industrial interfaces. For example, the new Han Configurator function makes it possible to specify the position and number of cable entries according to customer requirements. The tool also enables users to add custom labels directly to housing surfaces. At the same time, to ensure all elements are compatible, as usual, the configurator is permanently running in the background, monitoring whether the relevant technical requirements are being met. Once the configuration has been completed, a digital dataset for the resulting solution, containing both CAD data and dimensional drawings for the custom interface, is made immediately available to download. "By adding the customization function to the Han Configurator, we are yet again increasing the amount of flexibility users have when creating tailor-made products based on the Han portfolio. This tool enables them to design custom connector components - and thus find the best possible solution for their particular issue. It also reduces the outlay for adapting solutions to specific requirements and shortens the time needed to take an idea from the drawing board into production," explains Timo Poggemöller, Group Leader Digital Product Services at HARTING Electric.
