Flender, one of the world's leading suppliers of mechanical and electrical drive systems, has announced the expansion of its service center in Elgin, Illinois. With this significant investment, the company aims to strengthen its efficiency and local support in the United States and Canada.

The new building will include a large, state-of-the-art logistics area, a dedicated area for regrinding gear parts, and consolidated storage space that will speed up access to needed parts. The official groundbreaking ceremony took place on Friday, June 27, in the presence of representatives from local authorities, marking the start of expansion work at the Elgin site.

“Our expansion in Elgin is more than just an increase in capacity; it redefines the way we serve our North American customers. With this investment, we are doubling our commitment to excellent local service,” said Kerry Klein, President of Flender Corporation. “By expanding our service capabilities, we are able to significantly improve turnaround times, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, thereby strengthening our position as a leading service provider in the industrial and wind energy sectors.”

The new building is strategically located next to the existing Flender building at the Elgin site. Working closely with the company's Canadian site in Cambridge, Ontario, the expansion offers comprehensive synergies in the North American market for service and repowering. Both sites are focused on industrial and wind power applications and are supported by dedicated sales teams.

With what it claims is a unique setup, Flender aims to expand its pioneering role and provide service for more wind turbine platforms and repairs of third-party products in the future. According to the Bocholt-based company, the expansion in Elgin strengthens its global presence and commitment to the future of wind energy and industry. A grand opening event is planned for February 2026 to mark the start of operations and the beginning of a new era of service excellence for Flender in North America.
