Hoses also now well networked

Under the product name AMPIUS, the Gelsenkirchen-based Masterflex Group has unveiled a new hose system equipped with a digital interface, set to be presented at the upcoming HANNOVER MESSE. The customer can use an app to call up data on the plastic hoses relating to wear, abrasion, temperature, and flow rate, in addition to the unique product ID. These lifecycle-tracking functions can be leveraged to – ideally – accurately predict faults, enabling the machine operator or maintenance team to take preventive action. This should significantly reduce downtimes for the machines to which the hoses are connected.
Within the overall concept of a predictive maintenance approach that also covers other machine components, the option of networking hoses for monitoring and maintenance purposes is becoming increasingly important.
