The focus for the first call for tender is on ‘sector coupling and water technologies’, ‘large-scale energy storage in the electricity sector’, and ‘energy-optimized buildings’. The aim of the Living Labs for the Energy Transition ideas competition is to accelerate the transfer of technology and innovation from research into practice. Funding of up to €100 million a year is earmarked for this from 2019 through 2022. Companies will test innovative ideas in a real-life environment in cooperation with researchers. These will relate to energy technologies and concepts that demonstrate great potential for effective climate protection , but have not yet achieved market penetration.
The BMWi provides information about the ideas competition and submissions on its Website. The first round for project proposals closes on April 5, 2019.
