As part of the third Cloud X Summit at the Bildungscampus in Heilbronn, Schwarz Digits, the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, announced its in-depth cooperation with the Federal Employment Agency and the Baden-Württemberg police force. The basis for the provision of all digital services is the company's own sovereign cloud STACKIT. In addition to STACKIT, the portfolio also includes cybersecurity solutions from XM Cyber, the AI operating system PhariaAI from Aleph Alpha, and the secure and sovereign messenger Wire.

The data-sovereign cloud as a digital basis for the public sector

The public sector is a central component of a state's critical infrastructure. The challenges that public administration faces when it comes to digitalization are numerous: citizens want digital administrative processes, and the shortage of skilled workers does not stop at the public sector. In addition, there is a digitalization backlog with a simultaneous increase in administrative costs. The consequence: administrative efficiency must increase. To protect critical infrastructure, all digitalization must be sovereign and secure. A sovereign cloud combines the benefits of modern technology with the high compliance and security requirements in the public sector.

Effective risk diversification

"In principle, the digitalization of the administration must be sovereign and secure at all levels. Protecting our critical infrastructure is a top priority. Previous dependencies on non-European providers that are subject to a different jurisdiction pose an immense risk," explains Bernie Wagner, Head of Sales and Marketing at Schwarz Digits and CEO of STACKIT. "As part of risk diversification, cloud providers should focus on comprehensive disaster recovery measures and ideally offer these as a service. With the sovereign cloud, STACKIT attaches central importance to both the protection of critical infrastructure and comprehensive disaster recovery measures."

For a sovereign digital transformation

In order to enable digital sovereignty for the Federal Employment Agency and the Baden-Württemberg police force in the future, the first step will be to transfer important IT systems (on-premises) that are operated within the organization's own premises to the cloud-based STACKIT solution. "Standardized and automated processes help us to create central conditions for modern, efficient administration. STACKIT not only offers us the necessary data sovereignty, but also the scalability to further develop digital innovations flexibly and, above all, securely," says Stefan Latuski, CIO of the Federal Employment Agency. The technology portfolio is broadly based. "With solutions such as XM Cyber, potential cyberattacks are detected at an early stage and the level of security is continuously increased. AI-based applications are also used to specifically relieve and support our employees in their day-to-day work. At a time when resilience, flexibility and the ability to innovate are increasingly determining the ability to act, our approach is an example of how digital administration in Germany can be designed to be sovereign, scalable and future-oriented."

The efficiency of our executive protects human lives

The efficient provision of information via a sovereign cloud should also ensure speed in the processing of internal government processes. The STACKIT Cloud adheres to European and German data protection standards without compromise, which optimizes the handling of personal data. "To enable everyone to live together safely in our society, it is essential to ensure that our security bodies function smoothly. The use of a sovereign cloud will make the Baden-Württemberg police more efficient in the future and therefore ensure faster and more effective crime-fighting," says Thomas Berger, Chief of Police for Technology, Logistics and Service of the Baden-Württemberg police.
