Together with SmartFactory Kaiserslautern, German Edge Cloud demonstrates how a real production environment can be virtually replicated within a very short time. The SmartFactory KL model factory was converted into a virtual factory within a single day – based on GEC's Once-Article Production System. This use case shows that digitalization does not always have to be complicated and time-consuming, but can often be achieved much faster than expected.

The approach is not limited to model factories: existing production facilities can also be transferred to the industrial metaverse. However, this requires the structured collection of machine data. A key challenge is to transfer unstructured data from production into a consistent, structured data space where AI models can work effectively.

This is precisely where German Edge Cloud's solutions come in. They create the necessary data basis for the validated, scalable, and productive use of AI applications. "Only valid data can be used to develop future AI solutions that deliver real added value for factory operators," emphasizes Dieter Meuser, CEO of German Edge Cloud.

The underlying system combines over 40 years of engineering experience. Meuser himself was involved in the digitization of production facilities back in the 1990s. Today, this integration expertise makes it possible to quickly transfer machine data to data lakes and efficiently bring AI solutions into production using plug-and-produce approaches.
