EMC cable glands have to combine several properties at the same time. They should not only reliably dissipate electromagnetic interference fields, but also undesirably high shielding currents. In order to be able to use them in limited installation space, compact dimensions are also required. The market also demands EMC cable glands that are easy, quick and reliable to install. The new UNI Dicht TRI from PFLITSCH is now designed to meet all these requirements. According to the manufacturer, UNI Dicht TRI combines high-quality EMC contacting using TRI springs - familiar from the blueglobe series - with the compactness and individuality of the UNI Dicht modular system.

Highest shielding attenuation values across the entire frequency range

According to PFLITSCH, the UNI Dicht TRI achieves the highest shielding attenuation values across the entire frequency range thanks to the large-area 360-degree contact to the cable shield using the patented triangle spring. Thanks to the mechanical decoupling of the shield contact from the sealing element, the UNI Dicht TRI guarantees consistent EMC properties even over a very long period of time. Another plus point is the very high current-carrying capacity for reliable dissipation of unwanted high shield currents due to the large support of the solid TRI spring made of stainless steel.

Reliable installation

Installation should also always be simple and safe, as the user only has to remove the cable sheath at the contact point where the braided shield is to be contacted. The TRI spring makes reliable contact with the cable shield as soon as the cable is inserted into the cable gland - even with non-circular or off-center cables. In any case, this type of contact from PFLITSCH means that the cable shield only needs to be exposed directly at the connection point in the switch cabinet. Because the braided shield remains 100 percent intact, maximum shielding attenuation is achieved and the useful signals are transmitted without unnecessary interference from interfering signals. The toothing between the double nipple and sealing insert also prevents the cable from twisting when the pressure screw is tightened. This makes the UNI Dicht TRI particularly suitable for applications in which the cable is already contacted, such as connectors and sensors.

Enormous shielding areas ensure a secure EMC connection

The UNI Dicht TRI is available in sizes M16 to M25 for cable diameters from four to 20.5 millimetres. Thanks to their large sealing areas, large diameters can be reliably sealed with IP 68. In addition, the enormous shielding area of the UNI Dicht TRI ensures a secure EMC connection. In M25, for example, very thin shield diameters from three millimetres up to 17 millimetres can be contacted. The large-area seal in the PFLITSCH cable glands prevents the cable sheath from constricting, which makes the installation safe and durable. The UNI Dicht TRI made of nickel-plated brass or stainless steel is approved with a TPE sealing insert for the temperature range from minus 40 degrees Celsius to plus 130 degrees Celsius, with a silicone sealing insert even from minus 55 degrees Celsius to plus 200 degrees Celsius. The PFLITSCH EMC cable glands are therefore an important component in the EMC protection concept of electrical systems to prevent faults and failures.
