The Technology Campus is a flagship project within the “Made for Germany” initiative and aims to further strengthen Germany as a business location and the region, particularly in the field of power electronics. Leading companies and investors from across various industries have joined forces in “Made for Germany” to promote a strong, successful, and sustainable economy in Germany.

By 2027, a state-of-the-art center for logistics, service, and flexible automation with space for up to 300 employees will be built in Erlangen on a site covering around 7,000 square meters—equivalent to the size of a soccer field. The next step, planned for completion by 2030, is the construction of a center for development and innovation in power electronics, as well as additional space for production. This is where the new generation of converters and controllers will be developed, which will control the movements of plants and machines even faster, more precisely, and more efficiently.

“The Siemens Technology Campus Erlangen is a flagship project of ‘Made for Germany’ because our colleagues at the site are a model of Germany's innovative strength and competitiveness,” says Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens AG. “Here, we have superior products, a radical focus on customer benefits, and we are fully committed to digitalization, automation, and artificial intelligence. With these success factors, we are securing Germany's economic future. Siemens is delivering. Now it's up to politicians to implement the necessary structural reforms.”

Siemens is investing a total of €500 million in the transformation of its Erlangen site. The investments are part of the global investment strategy presented in 2023, which has a volume of around €2 billion. One billion euros of this will go to the German site. With the Technology Campus, the Siemens site in Erlangen will become a global pioneer for technology activities related to the industrial metaverse. The industrial metaverse is a virtual environment developed specifically for industrial applications. It enables companies to use technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital twins to digitally simulate, test, and optimize real-world processes, products, and plants before they are physically implemented.

“Siemens' investment offensive is a clear signal for Germany, Bavaria, and Erlangen, as well as for the approximately 3,000 employees on Frauenauracher Straße,” says Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann. “The Siemens Technology Campus Erlangen will be a flagship location for research and development as well as for the production of forward-looking Siemens technologies. It will drive forward the digital transformation and further consolidate Bavaria's role as a leading technology region.”
