1) What is the name of your product?

The new SAUER Orkan series - high pressure compressors for air and gases.

2) What are the possible applications of your product?

The SAUER Orkan series is based on a modular compressor concept and can be used flexibly for a variety of applications. A wide range of gases such as air, nitrogen, helium, natural gas or hydrogen can be compressed up to 500 bar(g).

3) What is the product’s main benefit for the customer?

Despite a drive power of up to 110 kW, the series is completely air-cooled. This saves an additional cooling water supply and has many advantages in installation, operation and maintenance. Among other things, this is made possible by the new CubeCooler cooling design, which has reduced the recooling temperatures by up to 30%.

4) How can your product contribute to industrial transformation?

Decarbonization as part of industrial transformation starts with data.

Precise data is a key prerequisite for effectively achieving the emission targets in the value chain. With SiGREEN, Siemens has successfully developed an application for the efficient acquisition of real data collected where emissions are actually produced, i.e. in the corresponding steps along the supply chain. To calculate the carbon footprint, SiGreen makes use of real data rather than industrial average values. Product Carbon Footprints thus become a measurement and control instrument – and can be actively reduced by applying targeted improvement measures.

5) Are there any other important points that you can think of?

During development, it was particularly important to develop a platform that can also be adapted to future requirements. This means that SAUER Orkan compressors can also be used for important future technologies such as power-to-X or hydrogen. Thanks to the magnetic coupling used for the first time, the gas compressors are also hermetically gas-tight. This means that no valuable gas is lost and no emissions are produced. The magnetic coupling is also completely maintenance-free.
